Green Strategy
This module presents the principles and practices of construction technology for long-span and tall structures. It emphasizes construction systems for basements, building facades, and envelope systems, along with steel construction. Additionally, it covers modern and emerging construction technologies and systems, such as Modular Construction (MC) and the Industrialized Building System (IBS).
Project 1: Industrialized Building System
Project 1 is a group assignment focused on the Industrialized Building System (IBS). Each team is tasked with designing basic apartment units using an IBS construction approach. The goal of this project is to immerse students in a critical and analytical exploration of various IBS construction techniques, while also involving them in evaluating IBS scoring.
Project 2: Construction Solutions
Project 2 aligns with the students' current studio design project, focusing on technical studies. It consists of two parts: the first analyzes and establishes the structural and envelope systems to ensure logical and workable construction, encouraging integration of construction into design. The second part requires students to present final drawings, showing how previous studies were applied. A key requirement is a detailed sectional drawing, which also fulfills the design studio's expectations.
